Playing with Manual mode

Just wanted to share some pics that I took this evening in manual mode. I wish the "flowers" were prettier but I kind of like the way they look. I am beginning to understand my Canon and I am really enjoying it. TFL!

Do you dig it?

I was recently going through J's clothes when I came to the realization that summer is fast approaching she is in need of some summer clothes. Luckily, it will mostly be t-shirts and a couple of pairs of shorts. She has a niece who is 5 who is pretty excited to pass along some clothing plus she has stuff she can carry over from last summer.

I went to the children's place last night to check out what was new for this year picked up a couple of things. 2 t-shirts and a little skirt to be exact. As I was looking at the t-shirts, I went to the other side of the display not realizing that it had boy items. Hmmm...what's that I see? Oh my, how cute. Of course the first thing I thought is "it's too bad I don't have a boy".lol! But then just like magic, I could visualize my little girl wearing 2 little pony tails playing with a toy dump truck in the dirt and of course wearing the T. Of course I picked it up...hee hee! P

I am sure there will be a layout in the future. Now to pick up a dump truck. lol!

Have a seat, stay a while...

On Sunday we were getting ready to wash the kitchen floor so we brought the kitchen chairs in the living room. I didn't realize this until recently when it was pointed out to me that DD may have a little OCD when it comes to lining things up. Just another little trait she shares with her cousin T. Once she lined up her cream chairs, they needed to be filled. So, she grabbed her dolls/stuffed animals and each gave them a chair. After all, who wants to go to the theater alone.

PG 13 or R - you be the judge

*** WARNING ***The attached photo is not for the faint at heart. You may not want to check out the photo if you are prone to bad dreams. I wouldn't want to be responsible for sleepless nights...hee hee!

Isn't it amazing how the brain functions?

For example, J has had this item on her shelf for as long as I can remember. When I redid her room, I moved it from the shelf it sat on to her newly pink dresser. This is the second time I have had to remove it from her room as she says it scares her. The first time, I thought she may just be trying to delay bedtime...hee hee! It was out of her bedroom for a few days and this evening I placed it back on her dresser. She wasn't aware I did this. Tonight she started crying after she was in bed and I went in and asked "what is wrong, honey?" and she pointed to this object and said it scared her. Of course I took it out and will put it away for a few months. Poor peanut.

Personally, I would be more disturbed sleeping with all the dolls and stuffed animals she has in her bed. lol!

Hello Bunny!

Last night we were getting the last minute preparations ready for today's big day. we really didn't get DD anything big for Easter as I don't want it to be about "material gifts". So the Easter bunny left a basket with new crocks, a puzzle, skipping rope, little animals, crayons, foam alphas and of course some little chocolate eggs.

The Easter bunny also left some eggs for an Easter egg hunt this morning. I know I always say this time (Christmas, Halloween, Easter...) will be so much fun as she is older than the year before. This time it really was amazing. She had a blast. I almost had to tell her to breath she was that excited. She ran from one end of the lawn to the other collecting eggs. She filled her basket. She opened each egg to reveal what little treasure it housed. Some hair clips, lip gloss, bubbles, chocolates and a few other little trinkets. The best was when she opened the egg that had a tiny little bear in it. I don't think I will ever forget the look in her eyes. How did the bunny know she would love all this stuff? What a great morning it was.

Happy Easter everyone!

For less than $50

Ah, Spring! I love this time of the year when you can bring furniture outside and refinish it. It keeps the mess inside to a minimum.

Per my previous post, I sanded, primed and applied a base coat of paint lighter than the top coat. In all I have 5 coats of primer/paint. I chose to do it this way as I knew I wanted to distress it and wanted the base coat to peek though. Once it was all dry, I sanded the edges and areas that would wear from normal use.

So...I knew I wanted to paint it pink. J received a jacket from one of her aunt's at Christmas and I really love the colour so I brought it in and they were able to colour match it for me.

We bought the dresser for $30 and picked up the paint this morning for $10. We used the glass knobs from J's current dresser. All in all, it is was fun do do and didn't cost a great deal of money. I knew it was all worth the work when J said it was pretty and that she loves it!

Just a little sneak peek

As some of you may know, we recently bought DD a twin bed. Her room is an okay size but by no means large. Presently she has a long black dresser in her room which matched her crib. Since she no longer has the crib and has a bigger bed, I decided to get a tall dresser in order to save space and keep those little fingers safe away from a lamp. We will keep her black one as we plan on moving within the next year and her new room may have the space to accomodate it.

On with my story...dressers can be expensive especially wood ones. I decided to watch kijiji closely and was able to get one and we picked it up this morning. The dresser is in excellent condition but the colour and the style do not really scream "I am a girl who is 3 year old". I had some primer and decided to prime it. I've also added a colour but will save that for when I post the finished project - hopefully by Sunday.

If today was your last day

Every once in a while a song comes along that just captures me. It hasn't happened in quite a long time. The kind of song that makes you reflect and draws so much emotion. You know, the kind of song that makes you feel like a teenager as you keep hitting the repeat button...hee hee! I have LOVED this song for quite a while now and when it comes on the radio, I crank it up and sing like I am the lead singer in the band although I don't have the same sexy voice.lol! I've attached a link to a you tube video that displays the lyrics of the song. If you haven't guessed yet, I am talking about Nickleback's "If tomorrow was your last day?". Take a peek.
