signed with love

Last weekend I decided to do a clean up of our file cabinet. It really was time. My plan is to do a cleaning/purging/organizing while I am off in September. I sure hope I come across some more treasures like this. It is a letter written by my little sister. I haven't seen it in many years and forgot I had it. As you can see her English was well...ummm....just take a look.

As seen in Scrapbooks etc.

Well, not really but it's where I got the idea for these little treats.

Last Saturday I picked up some clay (not really clay as it was kind of foamy and made by crayola) and J and I got creative on Sunday. We decided to try out the lollipops that can be found on page 62 of the new issue. I must say I am a visual person and sometimes it can take me a while to figure something out if I don't have the step by step instructions. If you look closely, I am sure you will spot the first lollipops we made. hee hee!. The good news is I eventually figured it out. Phew! We used wooden kabob skewers for the lollip pop stick and painted them black. I plan on picking up some "real" clay and will attempt to make some spooky critters to attach to them. The label on the glass jar is from the Martha Stewart holiday stickers which I also picked up on Saturday.

Storytime

I bought a story time projector a couple of years ago. Up until last night, J has not shown any interest in it and I can't remember the last time we had it out. Last night as we are getting ready to read a story, I asked her which book she wanted to read. She kept asking for Winnie. I showed her a couple of books and she said "no, not that one". I wasn't sure what she wanted so I asked her to show me. She brought me in my room and in the closet (we have a walk in) and she pointed on the top shelf. I can't believe she remembered it and where it was. I took it out and away to her bedroom we went. It was fun to see her little eyes light up when she was watching the slides change.

I wonder if she will want to watch it again tonight. She has a way of moving from one thing to the next pretty quickly...hee hee!

The weekend after the previous weekend

The week leading up to this last weekend was very busy for D. He was on vacation and I was at work. During this time he painted our bedroom (I will post some pics when we are done putting it together). He spread mountains of seasoned horse manure mixed with sawdust and soil (to much info? hee hee), and he stained our decks. As you can see, we do have grass poking through.

Friday evening J and I decided we needed to add some accesories to the deck so we put together the following. It actually turned out pretty cute.

Here is J being silly.

On saturday morning we had a deer visit us. If you look closely you will see him. PS - 50MM is not the lens you want to use when you have to zoom.lol.

We had a deck crawl with some of our neighbours and it was lots of fun. Of course it meant an occasion for lights. I had the idea of hanging them from the clothesline. It was really pretty when it was dark out. Sorry for the not so great pic. LED lights are not photogenic. Tee hee!

On Sunday, we layed pretty low and there were no pictures...ha ha!

Last weekend

I notice it has been about 2 weeks since I last posted. I really don't want to ignore my blog as I love looking through it as time passes. These last 2 weeks have been anything but boring. We have been busy bees. Summer is passing by and there are still so many things I want to do although I can do without the heat. Last weekend we had our niece and nephew spend the weekend with us. It was a lot of fun and it feels like we crammed a lot in those short 3 days.

On Saturday morning we had breakfast on the deck. It was such a beautiful morning and I am not sure why but food always taste better outside. Here is a picture of them filling up their plates.

Later in the morning as it got really hot, we needed a way to cool off other than the pool. We brought out the water balloons and the kids had a great time.

On Sunday, we decided to head to Hopewell Rocks. The kids had never been there before and we were really excited to walk on the ocean floor. If you have never heard of the Rocks, you can check it out here http://www.thehopewellrocks.ca/.

T loved it and was game to pose for some pictures. Here he is spider man.

This photo makes me giggle. It was the closest to having everyone look at the camera.

After we visited the rocks, we stopped for a picnic in Riverview. We had packed a cooler full of food. I think everyone had fun.

PS - Here is a picture of one of our pumpkins I photographed today. It is about 8 inches long. I think it will be our prized pumpkin for this year. lol!
